The Black Sheep Complex

The Black Sheep Complex: Growing Outside The Rhythm is a spread in Align Magazine's "OFF BEAT" issue where I was the writer and model on for Align Magazine.

I dive into the writing from a personal perspective as an amputee and how society and media can make people with disabilities feel like a black sheep. It brings awareness to the disability world, navigating a society shaped by rigid beauty standards, influencer culture, and curated bodies. Using the idea of offbeat both physically and culturally.

Through the issue's theme, OFF BEAT, it acknowledges that people with disabilities are creating a different “rhythm” and how people with differences aren’t falling behind, they move differently.

This piece brings awareness and captures photography and voices of my disability community that aren’t usually represented.
